March 10, 1998  Washington Consulting Group

A Bethesda, Maryland consulting company, Washington Consulting Group (WCG), has agreed to pay $425,000 to settle claims asserted in a qui tam action filed by Ellen Werther, one of its former employees. The allegations of the case were that WCG employees altered time sheets to show that work performed on various contracts and orders was performed under federal contracts, when in fact, the work was not done under those contracts. In addition, the employees allegedly billed the federal government for unallowable costs.

As part of the settlement, Ms. Werther will receive over $93,000 for having filed the qui tam case.
