July 29, 2002  Blue Cross

Blue Cross of California and WellPoint Health Networks have agreed to pay over $9.2 Million Dollars to settle claims asserted in a qui tam action filed by Vipul Vaid, a former company auditor. The allegations of the case were that Blue Cross of California falsified audit activity dates entered into an audit-tracking database in an effort to deceive the government into believing that the company had performed more audit work than it actually performed during the pertinent fiscal year.

Mr. Vaid may be awarded 15 to 30 percent of the $9.2 Million Dollar settlement, for having filed the qui tam case.
