Olympus America Inc. of Melville, New York has agreed to pay over $22 Million Dollars to settle claims that it overcharged the government for medical equipment, by failing to give the government the same discount it gave to its commercial customers. Olympus, which manufactures medical imaging equipment, offered private businesses a discount on equipment such as colonoscopes, laparascopes and other medical supplies, but it offered a lesser discount to the government. Olympus was required by federal law to disclose information regarding the other discounts to the government.
