September 8, 2000  Oncology Radiation Centers

More than 70 medical centers and billing companies have agreed to pay nearly $10 Million Dollars to settle claims raised in a qui tam action filed by Syed Tahman, a doctor who provided radiation oncology services for one of the defendants. The allegations of the case were that the defendants submitted claims to Medicare and the Department of Defense TRICARE Program, for patient services which were not provided, not ordered by a physician, or not medically necessary.

As part of settlement, Dr. Tahman will receive over $1.7 Million Dollars for having filed the qui tam case.
