Walgreen Co. has agreed to pay $7.6 Million Dollars to settle claims asserted in a qui tam action filed by a private relator. The allegations of the case were that the company billed federal health insurance programs for the full amount of prescriptions when those prescriptions had been only partially filled.
Under the False Claims Act, the private relator who filed the qui tam case, can seek an award of up to 30% of the $7.6 Million Dollar settlement.
