A joint venture of engineering and construction companies has agreed to pay $24.7 Million Dollars to settle a qui tam suit filed by Ian Cartwright, one of the company’s former employees. Mr. Cartwright claimed that the companies knowingly submitted inflated claims on an Amtrak project to electrify the rail corridor between New Haven and Boston. The case included allegations that the companies inflated charges regarding the foundations for poles, the electrical power system, and for delay in the project, and that the overcharges were paid with grant funds provided to Amtrak by the federal government.

Mr. Cartwright was awarded over $3.8 Million Dollars for having filed the qui tam action.
