October 18, 1995  Over $1 Billion Dollars recover under False Claims Act

The United States Justice Department has announced that over $1 Billion Dollars has been recovered under qui tam provision of the False Claims Act.

An Assistant Attorney General from the U.S. Department of Justice stated:

“The recovery of over $1 Billion demonstrates that the public-private partnership encouraged by the statute works and is an effective tool in our continuing fight against fraudulent use of public funds.”

Between 1986 and October 1995, relators who filed qui tam cases were awarded nearly $188 Million Dollars for having filed qui tam lawsuits on behalf of the federal government.
