December 7, 1995  United States Surgical Corporation

United States Surgical Corporation has agreed to pay $10 Million Dollars to settle allegations that it did not provide the federal government with the same rate of discounts it gave other customers who purchased surgical instruments from the company. As a result of U.S. Surgical’s failure to provide the government with accurate and complete pricing information, the government paid higher prices for items which the government had purchased for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The total sales to the government on the contract related to this settlement were approximately $56 Million Dollars, and the Department of Justice said that the settlement resolves complaints which could have been filed under the False Claims Act.
