December 12, 1996  Snap-On

Snap-On Incorporation has agreed to pay nearly $900,000 to settle claims that it over billed the Department of Defense for tools used by military installations. The government alleged that Snap-On falsely represented itself as a small business and sold tools at a cost 10% higher than what it was offering through regional sales offices. The government has announced that the settlement resolves claims which could have been brought under the False Claims Act.
