December 20, 1994 Fairchild Industries

Fairchild Industries has agreed to pay over $8 Million Dollars to settle claims asserted in a qui tam action filed by Neil Aliksanian, a former Fairchild employee. The allegations of the case concerned a malfunctioning device called a “certifier” which tests the capacity of the fuel tank on an A10 airplane before take-off. The claim was that after Fairchild learned of the malfunction, corrected the problem, but did not tell the Air Force about it, then billed the government for replacing the defective parts.

As part of the settlement, Mr. Aliksanian will receive approximately $600,000 for having filed the qui tam case.
