December 3, 2008 — MedQuist Inc.

Medical Transcription service provider MedQuist Inc. has agreed to pay $6.6 Million to settle a qui tam claim filed against it by two private Relators, Christopher Foley and Susan Purdue.

The allegations of the case were that from approximately 1998 through 2004, the Mount Laurel company knowingly overbilled the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and the Public Health Service, for medical transcription services.

As a reward for having filed their qui tam claims, Mr. Foley will receive $450,000, and Ms. Purdue will receive $144,000.
