July 8, 2010 — National Cardio Labs LLC

National Cardio Labs LLC (NCL) has agreed to pay $3.6 Million to settle qui tam actions filed against it by two former employees.

The allegations of the case were that National Cardio Labs billed for services it did not provide, including event monitoring services, physician services, 24-hour cardiac attendant monitoring, electrocardiograms and nerve conduction tests.

The qui tam claims were filed by James Cast and Stanton Crowley, who were formerly respectively employed by NCL as a biller and technician.

As a reward for having filed their qui tam claims, Mr. Cast and Mr. Crowley will receive $1,115,614 from the settlement.
